Dr. Sintayehu Bussa Teresa is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital. He is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty expertise in advanced trauma management and hip arthroplasty. His clinical focus includes complex pelvic and acetabular fractures, lower limb reconstruction, and joint replacement surgery.
Before joining Hawassa University, Dr. Sintayehu served as the Medical Director of Hiwot Fana Specialized University Hospital under Haramaya University and was the founding head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at HUCSH. His leadership has been instrumental in developing orthopedic trauma services and postgraduate training programs.
Dr. Sintayehu’s research centers on orthopedic trauma, neglected musculoskeletal injuries, and bone setting related complications. His publications appear in reputable journals, including The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS) and the European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology.
He is an active member of the Ethiopian Medical Association (EMA), AO Trauma, and the Ethiopian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (ESOT).
