Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Zinaye Wude Degefe is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, where he has served since 2020. He is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty, with a strong focus on sports injuries, minimally invasive surgery, and joint reconstruction.
He previously held leadership positions as Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at HUCSH and Chief Resident at Black Lion Hospital, Addis Ababa University. His clinical work combines advanced surgical expertise with a commitment to improving patient outcomes and orthopedic education in Ethiopia.
Dr. Zinaye’s research interests include orthopedic trauma, neglected musculoskeletal injuries, and joint deformities. He is passionate about developing sustainable, evidence-based orthopedic practices tailored to resource-limited settings. Dr. Zinaye Wude is active member of Ethiopian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (ESOT), Ethiopian Medical Association (EMA), AO Sport and College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA)
