SIGN Fracture Care International

Restoring Limbs and Livelihoods

Since 2015, SIGN Fracture Care International has played a vital role in the establishment and expansion of orthopedic services at Hawassa University. Through its partnership and continuous support, SIGN has provided essential surgical implants, training and mentorship that have greatly improved trauma care delivery in the region. Their contributions have enabled Hawassa University to offer quality fracture management even in resource-limited settings, helping thousands of patients regain normal function.

SIGN’s collaboration with Ethiopian orthopedic leaders has also strengthened local surgical capacity and promoted the growth of trauma education. Their ongoing support continues to enhance surgical standards, empower orthopedic surgeons, and expand access to safe, effective fracture care across southern Ethiopia.

Recently, SIGN launched the SIGN Spine Service in Hawassa, making it the first center in Ethiopia to benefit from this initiative. Through this program, SIGN donated specialized spine instruments and implants for patients with spinal trauma, enabling life-saving surgeries and transforming outcomes from potential paralysis or death to meaningful functional recovery. This milestone marks a new era in advanced spine care and reinforces SIGN’s ongoing commitment to improving musculoskeletal health in Ethiopia
